Dad was dying and we were all so upset. We weren't ready. It seemed to happen so quickly. None of us could settle down, we were crying, we were fighting, we were edgy, we were nervous. Our Hospice at Home aide asked if she could sing to dad…sing to all of us. She sang Amazing Grace and held our hands. Her voice was so beautiful and loving, it gave me goose bumps. It stunned us…it calmed us. As dad took his last breaths, she sang and we were at peace.

The next day, we call Hospice at Home to see if our singing angel could sing at dad’s memorial service. She said she was honored…and we were honored.

We later learned that our aide told this story to the team of Hospice at Home people who cared for dad. After she told them the story, she sang Amazing Grace to them and they all remembered my dad and the many others they cared for.
